No monthly fee: what Bookkeri's 3.9% + €0.35 costs per class, and whether clients can pay it
One of Bookkeri's founders posted in r/FitnessStudioOwner on November 1, 2026, looking for yoga and Pilates studios to try it. The price is two lines in the post: "No monthly subscription." and "3.9% + €0.35 per successful online payment." Bookkeri's site prints "No monthly fees. Only 3.9% + €0.35 per online transaction" at the top of its home page. We read both on November 2, 2026.
What 3.9% + €0.35 comes to on a class and on a pack
On a €20 drop-in paid online, 3.9% is €0.78. Add the €0.35 and the fee is €1.13. That is 5.65% of the class.
The post charges the fee per payment, not per booking. A ten-class pack sold for €150 is one payment. On €150, 3.9% is €5.85, and with the €0.35 the fee is €6.20. That is about 4.1% of the pack. The fixed €0.35 is a bigger share of a small payment, so a drop-in pays a higher rate than a pack or a membership does.
Neither the post nor the site says whether Stripe's own fee is inside the 3.9% + €0.35 or on top of it. The home page says "In partnership with Stripe Inc." and stops there. That one answer decides whether €1.13 is the whole cost of a €20 class or only the first part of it.
The prices are in euros, and the post says "We've been piloting Bookkeri with a handful of studios in Finland." Nothing in the post or on the site says whether a US studio can sign up, or what the fee is in dollars. So the dollar math below uses two platforms that print this model in dollars.
The same model in dollars: Momence Basic and Addagio
Momence's pricing page lists Basic as "Free," with a "5% transaction fee" and a "4% service fee" on the card. Further down, the same page lists US processing at "3.9% + $0.30 for online card payments." It does not say whether processing is charged on top of the 5% and the 4%. On a $20 class, the 5% and the 4% come to $1.80. If processing lands on the same payment, it adds $1.08, for a total of $2.88.
Addagio's Pilates page offers "Pay Per Booking at 5% per transaction (no monthly fee)" or a "Pro Subscription at $29/month with 0% commission." Five percent of $580 is $29, so a studio taking more than $580 a month in bookings pays less on the $29 plan. The page says "Addagio integrates with Stripe for secure payment processing" and does not say whether Stripe's fee is part of the 5%.
Both pages sell a monthly plan next to the free one, and the monthly plan takes a fee away. Momence's Business plan is "$199 USD/mo" and lists "No service charge." Addagio's Pro plan is $29 at 0%. A fee per payment costs least when a studio sells little. Past a break-even point, it costs more than the flat plan beside it.
Where $99 flat lands
Frontmat is $99 a month with every feature and every location. Our pricing page says "Frontmat adds no markup, platform fee or commission." Card processing is Stripe's published rate, paid to Stripe from the studio's own Stripe account. For a domestic card, Stripe's pricing page lists "2.9% + 30¢" per successful transaction.
Against a 5% fee on bookings, $99 a month costs less once online sales pass $1,980 a month, because 5% of $1,980 is $99. Below that, the 5% plan costs less. That compares only the platform's own cut on each side. If Stripe's fee comes on top of a 5% plan the way it comes on top of our $99, the line stays at $1,980. If the 5% already includes Stripe's fee, the line moves up. Bookkeri prices in euros, so it stays out of this math.

Three things decide it: whether the platform lets you, how the fee shows up at checkout, and where the studio is.
The platform comes first. Momence's pricing page says "All fees can be passed to customers." Bookkeri's post, its home page and its features page do not say either way. Neither does Addagio's page.
Then comes the checkout. In the US, a fee a client pays for using a credit card is a surcharge, and Visa has rules for it. Visa's one-page Merchant Surcharging Considerations and Requirements sheet says "Surcharging applies only to credit transactions in the U.S. and U.S. territories. Debit and prepaid cannot be surcharged." It also says "The surcharge must not exceed your cost of acceptance for the credit card," and a footnote caps it at 3% when that cost is higher. The studio has to tell its acquirer 30 days before it starts, post a notice "at the point of entry and point of sale," and show the surcharge as its own line on the receipt.
The sheet's first line puts "a surcharge, or checkout fee" in the same sentence. So ask any platform that passes fees on how it adds them: as a booking fee every client pays, or as a fee for paying by card. Ask whether it leaves debit cards alone. If a studio on Momence Basic passes both fees through, 5% and 4% make 9%. As a credit card surcharge, that is three times the 3% in Visa's footnote.
The same sheet lists Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and Oklahoma as "States currently prohibiting or limiting surcharging." Its footer reads "Version 08142023," so check your own state's current rule before you turn a pass-through on.
For Bookkeri's studios in Finland, the rule is tighter. The European Commission's page on PSD2 says "PSD2 bans additional charges for payments with most consumer debit and credit cards, both in shops and online." The same page says the directive has applied across the EU since January 13, 2018.
The one pass-through no card rule touches is the class price. For a studio to keep €20 from a class after 3.9% + €0.35, the class has to sell at €21.18. That is a price the studio sets and posts, not a fee added at checkout.
What to ask Bookkeri, or any platform with no monthly fee
- Is Stripe's fee inside the 3.9% + €0.35, or on top of it?
- Is there a fee on payments taken at the front desk, or only on online ones? The post says "per successful online payment."
- When a class is refunded, does the fee come back to the studio?
- Can the fee be passed to clients? If it can, does it go on as a booking fee or as a card fee, and does it skip debit cards?
- The post offers early adopters "no setup fees." Is the 3.9% + €0.35 fixed for them too, and for how long?
- Does Bookkeri take studios in the US, and what is the fee in dollars?
The founder asked studio owners what they would change about their booking platform. On fees, a pricing page that answers those six questions lets a studio do the math before a sales call, not after it.
