Before you sign: what leaving looks like

Every demo shows you arriving. None show you leaving. Studio owners in every thread we read learned the exit terms the expensive way, so here is the list to run before signing anything.

Ask for the export first

Request a sample member export before the contract. It should carry names, emails, remaining credits with expiry dates, and class history. If the vendor hesitates, or the export lacks balances, believe what that tells you. Owners have described platforms that made the export slow or partial once they announced they were leaving.

Find the off switch for recurring billing

One owner leaving Momence described cancelling hundreds of recurring subscriptions one at a time because there was no bulk option and no account deletion. Ask, in the demo, how you would stop all recurring charges in one action on the day you leave.

Read the renewal clause

Owners have reported Mindbody contracts that renewed automatically for another term. Ask for the contract length, the notice window, and what happens if you miss it. Month to month means none of this applies, and it is worth paying for.

Ask what happens to saved cards

Saved cards live with the payment processor, not the software. If the processor changes, members reconnect a card. A good migration tells the front desk exactly who has and has not done it.
