What Mindbody actually costs a studio in 2026

Mindbody’s pricing page shows a starting price. Studio owners in every forum thread report a different number on their invoice. This post lays out where the gap comes from, with sources, so you can do your own math before a demo.

The tiers are per location

Mindbody publishes four plans, priced per location: Starter at roughly $99 to $159 a month, Accelerate at $259 to $279, Ultimate at $499, and Ultimate Plus from $699 (FitBudd’s 2026 breakdown; Mindbody’s own pricing post). Per location means a two-studio business on Starter pays for two Starters. Spot booking and advanced reporting sit on Accelerate, and marketing automation sits on Ultimate, so the tier most boutique studios actually need is not the one on the front page.

Processing and the marketplace

Card processing through Mindbody runs about 2.99% plus 30 cents card-present and 3.6% plus 30 cents online (Koalendar’s cost guide). Processing is a cost of doing business anywhere, so compare it against Stripe’s published 2.9% plus 30 cents rather than against zero. The marketplace is different: clients who book you through the Mindbody app carry a 20% commission, capped at $30 per transaction. That is a fee on the relationship, not on the card.

The add-ons

The branded member app is an add-on in the $75 to $300 a month range unless you are on the top tier. Owners in studio threads report similar amounts for advanced reporting and messaging. None of these are hidden in the sense of secret; they are simply not in the starting price.

The math for a two-location studio

Take a two-location reformer studio that wants spot booking and a branded app. Accelerate at two locations is about $520 to $560. Add the app, and you are near $650 a month before processing. Third-party guides put the real all-in range for a working two-location boutique at $1,000 to $1,700 a month once processing and commissions are counted (FitBudd). One owner in a recent thread put three locations at about $2,200 all-in.

How to use this

Ask every vendor, Mindbody included, for the number at month twelve for your member count with the app, your locations, and processing at your volume. Then ask what a member export looks like. The first question tells you the price. The second tells you the price of changing your mind.

For the record, Frontmat is $99 a month for every feature and every location, processing is Stripe’s rate paid to Stripe, and there is no marketplace. We do not do payroll or retail point of sale, so if those run your studio, Mindbody may genuinely fit you better.
