Fee math

No monthly fee still has a price: Momence's 5% and 4%, Addagio's 5%, and where $99 flat costs less

November 2, 2026

On November 1, one of Bookkeri's founders posted in r/FitnessStudioOwner that they are building a "NO MONTHLY FEE booking platform" for yoga and Pilates studios. The same post gives the price: "3.9% + €0.35 per successful online payment." No monthly fee is still a price. It is charged on each payment instead of once a month, and it grows with the studio.

Bookkeri is not the only one saying it. Momence lists its Basic plan as "Free." Addagio says "Start free with a 5% fee per booking." ReservePilates promises "zero monthly costs." We read each page on November 2, 2026. This post finds the monthly sales where each percentage starts costing more than a flat fee. The flat fee in the math is ours: "$99 a month, flat," with card processing at Stripe's published 2.9% + 30¢, paid to Stripe from the studio's own Stripe account.

Every crossover below is one division: the flat fee divided by the percentage it replaces. Above that much in monthly sales, the flat fee costs less.

Momence: "Free," then 5%, then 4%, then processing

Momence publishes two pricing stories. momence.com/pricing says "Let's talk pricing" and sends you to book a demo. A second Momence page at lp.momence.com/pricing/new prints four plan cards. Our earlier Momence post read the first page and took its plan figures from third parties. The cards on the second page are Momence's own.

The Basic card says "Free" and is written "For solo entrepreneurs doing appointments." Its last two lines are "5% transaction fee" and "4% service fee." Under the plans, the page says "All pricing listed in U.S. Dollars. All fees can be passed to customers." US card processing gets its own section: "3.9% + $0.30 for online card payments" and "3.7% + $0.05 for in-person card payments." The page does not say what the 4% service fee is charged on or who sees it at checkout.

The two pages most likely serve different buyers. Most likely, the cards are the plans a studio can start on its own, and "Let's talk pricing" leads to Custom. Custom is the one card with no price, and its footnote reads "*Annual contract required."

Here is a $20 class booked online on Basic, with the 5% and processing both applied as the page lists them. Momence's 5% is $1.00. Processing at 3.9% + $0.30 is $1.08. That is $2.08 of the $20 before the 4% service fee, which is $0.80 more. Pass the 4% to the client and the class costs them $20.80. Absorb it and the studio pays $2.88 in fees. The same $20 at Stripe's published rate costs $0.88.

Now the crossover. If the client pays the 4%, Basic costs the studio 6 points more than Stripe's rate alone: 5 to Momence and 1 more in processing. The $0.30 is the same on both sides. $99 is 6% of $1,650. Above $1,650 a month in online card sales, $99 flat plus Stripe costs the studio less than Basic. That is about 83 classes at $20. If the studio absorbs the 4% instead, the gap is 10 points and the line drops to $990, about 50 classes.

The other cards print different lines. Individual is "$60 USD/mo," and its card says "INCLUDES EVERYTHING IN BASIC, PLUS:" with no fee line of its own. Business is "$199 USD/mo" and says "No service charge." That is $100 a month more than $99 before a card is run.

Addagio: 5% per booking, and a $29 plan on its own pricing page

Addagio's Pilates page offers "Pay Per Booking at 5% per transaction (no monthly fee)" or "a Pro Subscription at $29/month with 0% commission." Its pricing page prints "$29/mo" and "0%" on a plan called Standard, and a plan called Pro at "$59/mo." The $29 offer on the Pilates page most likely describes the plan the pricing page calls Standard. The names differ, and the price and the 0% match.

The pricing page also answers the processing question. Its FAQ says "Stripe processing (~2.9% + 30c) is the only additional cost, charged by Stripe directly." So the 5% sits on top of processing, and processing runs at about Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢ on Addagio and on Frontmat alike. The crossover is the 5% alone.

Addagio's own flat plan crosses first. $29 is 5% of $580. Above $580 a month in bookings, Standard costs less than Free. That is 29 classes at $20. Against $99, the line is $1,980, or 99 classes at $20.

The Free card has limits too: "1 location," "2 staff" and "10 services." A third staff member means a paid plan. Standard lists "3 locations," "10 staff" and "50 SMS/mo," and at $29 it costs less than our $99 at any volume. If those limits fit your studio, $29 is the cheaper buy. Ours covers every location for the one price, and reminder and waitlist texts are "not metered."

Frontmat is $99 a month flat. Every feature, every location, month to month. Card processing is Stripe’s published rate and goes to Stripe.

Bookkeri and ReservePilates: two pages without the number

Bookkeri's site says "Only 3.9% + €0.35 per online transaction" and "No monthly fees." It prices in euros, and the Reddit post says it has been piloting "with a handful of studios in Finland." The site says "In partnership with Stripe Inc." and does not say whether Stripe's fee is inside the 3.9% or on top of it. That answer decides the crossover, so it is the first question to ask, with a price in dollars right after it.

ReservePilates is a Pilates booking marketplace with a page on Mariana Tek's partner site. It promises "Zero onboarding fees, zero monthly costs, no long-term contracts" and says "You keep the majority of every booking." The page prints no percentage. A majority is anything over half, so there is no crossover to work out until ReservePilates gives the number.

The crossovers in one place

The dollar lines hold at any class price. Only the class counts assume $20. Past the line, every added sale widens the gap. At $5,000 a month in card sales, Addagio's 5% is $250 a month, or $3,000 a year. On Momence Basic, the 5% and the extra point of processing come to $300 a month over Stripe's rate, before the 4%. The $99 stays $99.
